The Government of India's Ministry of Food Processing Industries helped establish the diploma programme. The program's goal is to create skilled labour in the area of post-harvest fruit and vegetable management and value-added product manufacture. It aims to cultivate entrepreneurial and vocational skills to increase work prospects and promote self-employment, especially among rural young and underprivileged groups in society. It aims to satisfy the labour needs of the food processing sectors and places a strong emphasis on improving the knowledge and abilities of current employees. The programme meets the educational needs of horticulture farmers, food processors, skilled labourers and technicians in the fruit processing industries, NGO functionaries and trainers, business owners, staff members of the Food Processing Training Centre (FPTC), horticulture, post-harvest, and food processing departments of the States and Central, rural educators, and farmers, among others.
