PGD in Writings from India (PGDWI)
IGNOU Post Graduate Diploma in Writings from India programme details
The Post Graduate Diploma in Writings from India educates students about the different facets and fields of Indian English writings and authors, including Mulk Raj Anand, Raja Rao, Anita Desai, Salman Rushdie, and Mahesh Dattani, among others, and considers the significance of Indian English literature. While critically assessing the issues with teaching and studying English Literature, it looks at the history of the institutionalisation of English Studies in India, the origins of Indian English Poetry, Indian English Novel, and other Englishes used around the world. Additionally, it challenges the western canon, examines the developing Indian literary canon, and discusses the decolonization of the mind. We make an effort to introduce pupils to Bhasha-language literature from India that has been translated into English. Finally, we look at literary theory and criticism, which is a key component of curricula in colleges and universities around the world. We start with classical theory and move on to romantic theory, new theory, feminist theories, deconstruction, and current ideas.
