PGD in the Novel (PGDNOV)

IGNOU Post Graduate Diploma in the Novel programme details

The Post Graduate Diploma in the Novel examines the novel's genre while taking into account its three main literary traditions. The course focuses on the writings of the greatest British novelists and their best works, on numerous genre-related characteristics of the novel, and analyses each novel in light of its social and cultural settings. The programme also recounts the evolution of the Australian novel, from its colonial history up to the present, and introduces students to the main authors of American literature through a study of their representative books. Finally, we examine literary theory and criticism, which has been an essential component of curricula in colleges and universities around the world since classical times. This includes romantic critique, new criticism, feminist ideas, deconstruction, and modern theories.
