PGD in British Literature (PGDBLT)
IGNOU Post Graduate Diploma in British Literature programme details
The Post Graduate Diploma in British Literature introduces students to the novel, drama, and poetry as well as other forms of British literature. The course provides a broad overview of British poetry and covers British poetry from the mediaeval era through the contemporary and post-modern eras. Additionally, it provides a thorough review of the growth and development of British stage life from Christopher Marlowe to T. S. Eliot. The book then chronicles the evolution of the British novel from its early eighteenth-century origins to the latter half of the twentieth century, focusing on different facets of the genre and analysing each novel in light of its social and cultural surroundings. Finally, we look at literary theory and criticism, which is a key component of curricula in colleges and universities around the world. We start with classical theory and move on to romantic theory, new theory, feminist theories, deconstruction, and current ideas.
