Study Hack for IGNOU Students: Reducing Screen Fatigue during Assignment Season
As we all know, being an IGNOU student means spending a massive amount of time in front of our laptops or tablets. Whether we are downloading the latest Study Material from eGyanKosh, attending online counseling sessions, or typing out our long assignments (TMA), our eyes take a serious beating. During my last exam preparation, I realized that I was struggling with "Computer Vision Syndrome"—my eyes were dry, and I was losing focus after just an hour of reading digital PDFs.
I’ve discovered a simple, free technique to help reset my focus and extend my study sessions without getting those nasty headaches. It’s called "Visual Fasting." Every 45 minutes of intense reading, I take a 2-minute break where I eliminate all visual stimuli. Instead of just closing my eyes, I use a "digital blackout" on my second monitor or my main screen to create a pure, dark environment for my brain to rest.
If you’re feeling burnt out from the bright glare of your study materials, you can try it here to turn your screen into a solid, calming black void. I’ve found that staring into this darkness for a couple of minutes helps my eyes relax much faster than looking around a room with bright lights. It acts like a "refresh button" for your brain, making it easier to go back and memorize those complex concepts in your syllabus.
Does anyone else have a specific routine to stay productive while studying online for IGNOU? Would love to hear your tips on managing study stress!
