PGD in Animal Welfare (PGDAW)

The fundamental components of animal welfare education, which is a multidisciplinary field that is continuously growing, include welfare science, welfare ethics, welfare regulations, and welfare standards. The term "animal welfare" can be used to refer to any kind of animal, while it is occasionally followed by the terms "farm," "companion," or other words to indicate which class of animals is being specifically discussed. However, in general, we are worried about the welfare of any animals that are handled by people in some capacity and in cases where we are specifically responsible for their care. The term "farm animal welfare" has historically drawn the most attention because it is most closely tied to livestock production in agriculture. Concerns about the welfare of working, performing, companion, zoo, and laboratory animals have also drawn attention over time. The PGDAW curriculum has addressed the science, ethics, laws, and standards pertaining to the welfare of all managed animals, including cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, working, performing, pet, zoo, and lab animals.
