MA in Economics (MEC)

IGNOU Master of Arts (Economics) programme details

The Program gives students a chance to study Economics at a higher level. In addition to offering the same core courses as other universities, it also has themes in some of the newer areas of economics, such as insurance and finance, that are expected to be very useful in the current situation of economic liberalisation and globalisation. Some of the classes need you to know how to use mathematics, especially calculus and linear algebra. Students are expected to know the basic math skills they learned in +2. The Program is made up of 11 courses, 9 of which are required and 2 of which are optional. All of the courses in the first year must be taken. The first four courses on the list below (MEC-6, MEC-7, MEC-108, and MEC-109) are required for the second year. The rest are optional.
