MA in Women's and Gender Studies (MAWGS)

IGNOU Master of Arts (Women's and Gender Studies) programme details

Women's and Gender Studies are new and growing fields of study in academia right now. The modular MAWGS programme is for students with a Bachelor's degree in any field who want to learn more about this area. Students will learn about the academic field of women's and gender studies, including its history, theoretical foundations, and how it has changed up to the present day. It is expected that people who finish the MA programme will have a deeper understanding of how empowerment works. Through either of the two specialisations, they would have learned about the cultural, literary, political, and socioeconomic differences between men and women. From the point of view of women and gender, this degree will teach students how to break down the complicated power structures and relationships in society.
