Certificate in Water Harvesting and Management (CWHM)

IGNOU Certificate in Water Harvesting and Management programme details

With the continuous urbanisation, industrialization, and increase in the demand for agricultural products, there has been an over-exploitation of the few surface and groundwater resources throughout the years. The groundwater table has sharply decreased as a result of this. Rainwater harvesting, which basically involves collecting and storing rainwater from rooftops or from surface catchments for future use, can successfully reverse the situation. Very little rainfall is preserved and captured despite a variety of efforts, including statutory measures. This certificate programme aims to spread knowledge of rainwater harvesting practises and management for the best use of collected water by all parties through educated human resources. The program's primary goals are to inform participants about how to increase and use water resources, to impart the knowledge and skills required to understand water harvesting techniques, and to empower participants to serve as instructors and coordinators at the household and community levels for water management in terms of its use as well as for water conservation.
