Certificate in Competency in Power Distribution (Electrical Technicians) (CCPD)

The School of Engineering & Technology, IGNOU, in collaboration with the Ministry of Power, has developed the Certificate of Competency in Power Distribution (for Electrical Technicians) (CCPD) programme in order to implement competency-based skill development training for the nation's electrical technicians and equivalent level work force. The rapidly expanding power sector needs qualified new recruits/manpower with the necessary skill and knowledge to improve systemic efficiency and deliver quality power to recipients' satisfaction. Training for on-the-job personnel to upgrade their abilities is also essential. The goal of this programme is to raise awareness within the workforce and encourage the sharing of best practises while addressing the general concerns and problems in the energy distribution industry. The main goals of this programme are to offer academic programmes that are tailored to the needs of technicians and other workers at the equivalent level who work in the electricity sector, to address general concerns and problems in the electricity distribution sector and raise awareness, to train, evaluate, and certify the skills and competencies of electrical technicians, and to better connect industrial education with the needs of learners.
